In the book “Angry White Men” by Michael Kimmel, we see the author’s interactions and examination of former POTUS Donald Trump’s followers. He examined the presence of the role of the “angry white male” and their roles in politics. Throughout the time of the United States, there hasn’t been any true diversity in terms of the POTUS and VPOTUS until the Obama administration as well as the current VP Kamala Harris. Kimmel examined Trump’s followers, particularly the far-right extremists. Kimmel states throughout the book that he believes men and even young men join these far-right extremist groups such as Neo-Nazis because of their insecurities as men and the need to feel more masculine. I feel as though he could make the same argument for those in far-left extremist groups such as Antifa, to explain why they join such a group as well.
